Being "eco" comes of age!

Losone, 28. April 2009: For her it’s just the beginning. No wonder she is so excited to be out there traveling the world and playing the game she loves so much, week in week out in different places. This is Anna Nordqvist’s first year on tour and the reigning Ladies British Open Amateur champion, who started playing golf at the age of 13, is really excited to finally play it hard with, as she says, “the big girls out there.” The tough learning process at Arizona State University, where she has spent her last two years, finishing first or second in 10 of her 24 tournaments, clearly has paid off. Anna qualified for both the LPGA and the Ladies European Tour both in her first attempt – winning in the process the Qualifying School of the LET this winter. “There are so many opportunities out there, so many new people to meet, new places to visit“, says the 21 year old. “So of course there are many temptations.” But Anna hasn’t lost touch with what’s really important in life: her family (Mum, Dad and two brothers), her home in Eskilstuna, Sweden, and ecological issues. “Of course I have to use the plane a lot with what I do, but I am very conscious about our eco system and try to pay attention to how I live, in what I consume and wear.” Nordqvist knows: “Like there are no shortcuts to success, there are no shortcuts to safe our planet neither. We only have this one.”
